AIC Group Uxbridge NHS £9.7m Energy Project
About This Project
AIC Group's mission is to create a sustainable future by using innovative environmental and waste management engineering solutions. They consult, design, manufacture & manage the installation of high quality, robust Thermal Treatment and Waste To Energy systems across the Medical, Agricultural, Biomass and Municipal Industries worldwide.
This specific project working with AIC Group for the NHS saw the removal & refurbishment of the Uxbridge Incinerator - now called the Energy Generation Centre was done to improve the environmental use of the incinerator and disposal of clinical waste, safely.
The new Energy Generation Centre will be used to help keep patients and staff warm, as well as provide hot water to the main NHS Hospital, just across the road. Having the incinerator burn different types of waste that is produced in the main hospital, as well as medicines, and sharps containers at extremely high temperatures (over 1,000 degrees) until it’s reduced to ash, the by-product from that process will be steam. This steam would usually be vented off into the air and wasted but by capturing it and using that steam, it can be converted into energy to provide the heating and hot water for staff and patients in hospital. A project nearing £10m, completed in conjunction with the Environment Agency has opened opportunities for the NHS and the Hillingdon Hospital, helping the environment, energy waste, alongside contributing to the safe desposal of clinical and medical waste.
The former incinerator was closed down around 4 years ago but this project has seen it brought back to life, with huge upside benefit to the environment and the NHS. (source link here)
Visit 1
Visit 1 to this incredible project saw us capture the massive crane lift removal of the main incinerator chamber (blue) & the secondary smaller incinerator (silver).
Both incinerators had to be removed through hatches in the roof with cranes by Ainscough.
In addition to external drone filming, we also flew our interior-flight FPV (First Person View) drones through the inside of the facility, and even inside the incinerator chambers! (It was off of course!)

Visit 2
We re-visited this project upon completion to create a final-works video showcasing the end-result of AIC Group's work on this £10m NHS refurbishment energy efficient project.
During the final visit, we captured aerial exterior shots of the building, clinical waste delivery and offloading ready to be burned, interior FPV video of the newly installed machinery, the new layout of the facility, the state-of-the-art AIC units, and the Energy Generating (Incinerator) in-action burning waste.
A small selection of photographs were also captured during our second visit, highlighting the key changes to the facility and the works AIC Group completed.

Project Investment For Full Works: Circa £4,000
